Lorsque l’agent de Viking Roses, John Pouw, a visité Molo River Roses au Kenya en 2015 pour la première fois, il n’a pas été impressionné par la ferme. Il ne savait pas qu’ils venaient de commencer.
Dans le bureau avec le GM Andrew Wambua, le directeur de production était en arrière-plan, silencieux tout le temps, écoutant. Depuis lors, à chaque visite, John a remarqué des améliorations, d’abord importantes, puis des détails précis, le tout sous la direction du directeur de la production.
C’était Paula Koross, qui est récemment devenue la directrice générale, toujours calme et à l’écoute, travaillant toujours avec son équipe.
Roses royales de Rosa
Normalement, les roses sont baptisées et/ou nommées d’après des célébrités. Au Danemark, Rosa Eskelund, obtentrice de Roses Forever et Viking Roses, fait baptiser son jardin et ses rosiers par des artistes célèbres et même la famille royale danoise. Cette fois, Viking Roses a voulu honorer le modeste professionnel et joueur d’équipe et a demandé à Paula de baptiser la variété qu’ils ont sélectionnée et plantée à la ferme.
Coupe très longue tenue – rose parfumée
Le code 18-075-P a été sélectionné dans les essais néerlandais de Viking Roses : productif, sain, de la bonne longueur et d’une durée de vie en vase de plus de 2 semaines.
Et parfumé ! Les gènes de la longévité et de l’odeur ne sont normalement pas les plus grands amis, mais Rosa Eskelund y travaille, avec Paula’s Champagne (couleur) Delight (parfum) comme premier résultat.
Son apparition à la récente exposition IFTF a montré une autre caractéristique inattendue : la boîte à fleurs a été récupérée après 6 (!) jours sans eau, les fleurs ont été coupées et directement mises dans le vase du support. Ils se sont ouverts magnifiquement et ensuite, Rosa les a ramenés au Danemark, pour en profiter pendant une autre semaine.
Elevage et sélection en cours
Molo River a commencé son essai il y a plus d’un an et dispose maintenant de quelques parterres, à partir desquels ils envoient des fleurs directement aux clients et utilisent le reste du matériel de propagation pour remplir les 0,25 ha.
Dans les années corona, Viking Roses n’est pas restée immobile. Au contraire, l’élevage et la sélection se sont intensifiés, ce qui a donné lieu à un nombre étonnant de variétés qui sont actuellement propagées par diverses exploitations de roses à l’échelle internationale. Molo River Roses en a d’ailleurs sélectionné pas moins de quatre dans leurs essais, qui sont passés à l’étape suivante. Signifie pré-commercial

When Viking Roses’ agent John Pouw visited Molo River Roses in Kenya in 2015 for the first time, he was not impressed with the farm. He didn’t know that they had just started. In the office with the GM Andrew Wambua, the Production Manager was in the background, quiet all the time, listening. Every visit since then John noticed improvements, first big and later getting the details right, all under the guidance of the Production Manager. That was Paula Koross, who recently became the General Manager, always quiet and listening, always working with her team.
Royal roses from Rosa
Normally, roses are baptized by and/or named after celebrities. In Denmark, Rosa Eskelund, breeder of Roses Forever and Viking Roses, has her garden and potroses baptized by famous artists and even the Danish royal family. This time, Viking Roses wanted to honor the modest professional and team player and asked Paula to baptize the variety they selected and are planting at the farm.
Very longlasting cut – rose with fragrance
Code 18-075-P was selected in Viking Roses Dutch trials: productive, healthy, the right length and vase life of more than 2 weeks. And fragrant! The genes of longevity and scent normally are not the biggest friends, but Rosa Eskelund is working on this, with Paula’s Champagne (color) Delight (fragrance) as the first result. Its appearance at the recent IFTF exhibition showed another unexpected characteristic: the box with flowers was retrieved after 6 (!) days without water,the flowers were cut off and directly put in the vase in the stand. They opened beautifully and afterwards, Rosa took them back home to Denmark, to enjoy them for another week.
Ready to the marked
Molo River started with their trial over a year ago and now have a few beds, from which they send some flowers directly to customers and use the rest of the material for propagation to fill the 0.25 ha.
Ongoing breeding and selection
In the corona years, Viking Roses has not sat still. On the contrary, there has been intensified breeding and selection, resulting in an astonishing number of varieties that are currently propagated by various rose farms internationally. Molo River Roses has also selected no less than four in their trials, which are moved to the next stage. Means pre-commercial
